Appointment & Engagement Process
Our engagement process is designed to ensure confidentiality, legal clarity, and regulatory readiness from the first interaction. Given the nature of our practice—spanning cybersecurity, compliance, investigations, and legal representation—we follow a structured approach to protect client interests and establish defensible engagement boundaries.
Step 1: Initial Appointment Request
Clients may request an appointment through our online form or by direct contact. At this stage, we collect limited, non-confidential information to understand the general nature of the enquiry and assess whether the matter falls within our scope of practice.
Submission of an appointment request does not create a lawyer–client relationship.
Step 2: Conflict Check and Eligibility Review
Before any substantive discussion, we conduct a conflict-of-interest review in accordance with professional and ethical obligations. We also assess jurisdictional considerations, regulatory sensitivities, and whether the matter requires urgent incident response or regulatory intervention.
Step 3: Preliminary Consultation
Once cleared, we schedule a preliminary consultation. This discussion is intended to:
-
Clarify the legal, regulatory, and technical context of the matter
-
Identify immediate risks or preservation requirements
-
Determine the appropriate scope of engagement
Where necessary, this consultation may be conducted under a confidentiality agreement.
Step 4: Scope Definition and Engagement Terms
Following the preliminary consultation, we define:
-
Scope of legal, cybersecurity, or forensic services
-
Roles, responsibilities, and decision authority
-
Jurisdictional and regulatory considerations
-
Fee structure and engagement timelines
A formal engagement letter is issued, setting out terms, limitations, and professional obligations. No services are commenced until the engagement is formally accepted.
Step 5: Formal Appointment and Commencement
Upon execution of the engagement letter, the firm is formally appointed. Work is then conducted within a legally privileged and governed framework, ensuring that all technical and investigative activities are aligned with legal strategy and evidentiary requirements.
Step 6: Ongoing Governance and Communication
Throughout the engagement, we maintain:
-
Defined reporting and communication channels
-
Clear escalation protocols
-
Continuous alignment between legal, technical, and governance considerations
This ensures that decisions made during the engagement remain coherent, attributable, and defensible.
Important Notice
An appointment request or preliminary discussion does not constitute legal advice or establish a lawyer–client relationship. Such a relationship arises only upon formal acceptance of an engagement letter by the firm.
